Established in 2019, DTORR works closely with government agencies, academic institutions, industry partners, local communities, and international organizations to develop innovative solutions that support sustainable tourism growth. We bridge the gap between policy, education, industry, and communities.
Our mission is to transform destinations and strengthen the visitor economy by building future-ready tourism ecosystems — connecting governments, academia, industry, communities, and global organizations to develop skilled human capital and create inclusive economic growth.
To transform destinations and strengthen the visitor economy by building future-ready tourism ecosystems through strategic partnerships, capacity building, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
To empower destinations, communities, and the visitor economy through innovation, collaboration, and sustainable tourism development.
Every engagement DTORR undertakes is grounded in a shared philosophy — discovering opportunity, designing innovation, and sharing knowledge across the ecosystem.
We explore new ideas, emerging trends, and strategic collaborations that strengthen destinations — connecting governments, academia, industry, and international partners for sustainable growth.
We design research-driven, technology-enabled solutions across destination development, visitor experience, human capital, and sustainability — empowering stakeholders to be future-ready.
We bring together educators, policymakers, and industry leaders to exchange knowledge, best practices, and collective action toward a more sustainable, inclusive, innovative, and future-ready tourism ecosystem.
From government partnerships to industry-academia collaboration, our four solution areas cover the full spectrum of tourism ecosystem development.
DTORR partners with governments, destination management organizations, and international institutions to strengthen tourism ecosystems through collaboration, innovation, and sustainable development. We work closely with public stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving destination management, visitor experiences, community participation, and institutional capacity while aligning initiatives with national policies and global sustainability frameworks. By fostering international partnerships, cultural exchange, and knowledge sharing, we help destinations adopt global best practices, attract new opportunities, and build future-ready tourism systems. Our approach creates long-term value for destinations, local communities, tourism businesses, and governments by developing resilient, inclusive, and globally connected tourism ecosystems that balance economic growth, cultural preservation, and environmental responsibility.
In June 2025, DTORR signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority to strengthen the state's tourism ecosystem through structured capacity-building and workforce development initiatives. The collaboration focuses on developing future-ready human capital by upskilling local communities, tourism and hospitality students, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals across diverse tourism segments, including coastal, mountain, rural, agri, adventure, and urban tourism. The initiative also supports destination readiness by promoting visitor management, service excellence, hygiene, safety standards, and responsible tourism practices, including strengthening the tourism ecosystem around Blue Flag beaches. Guided by the principles of UN Tourism TEDQual for quality tourism education and UN Tourism QUEST for destination excellence and governance, the partnership aims to build a skilled workforce, enhance destination competitiveness, and create a resilient, sustainable, and globally connected tourism ecosystem for Andhra Pradesh.

As an external collaborator, DTORR has actively promoted the UN Tourism Academy's TEDQual Certification for tourism and hospitality education and the UN Tourism Academy's QUEST Programme for destination quality, governance, and sustainable destination management across India. DTORR has led awareness webinars, stakeholder meetings, and institutional outreach initiatives to introduce these internationally recognized quality frameworks to universities, tourism institutions, destination management organizations, and government agencies. Through advisory and facilitation support, DTORR encourages institutions and destinations to align with global standards and best practices. These initiatives have generated strong interest, with several institutions progressing towards the TEDQual certification process, while destinations are exploring the adoption of the QUEST framework to strengthen quality, sustainability, and global competitiveness.

Since 2020, DTORR has been an active member and collaborator of the Union of International Associations (UIA), supporting its mission to strengthen civil society, international collaboration, and the global non-profit ecosystem. As a catalyst in India and the Asia-Pacific region, DTORR has organized and supported five Association Education Programmes (online and offline), enhancing knowledge, professional development, and global exposure for associations, non-profit organizations, and corporate professionals. Beyond education, DTORR advocates for measuring the long-term impact of association meetings on destinations and host communities. Our focus is on documenting the social, economic, and legacy impact of association events while encouraging responsible, sustainable, and accountable event practices. Through research, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven insights, DTORR aims to support destinations, policymakers, and the association sector with regional and country-specific meeting intelligence that strengthens decision-making, enhances destination competitiveness, and creates lasting value for future generations.
DTORR works with public and private destinations, tourism businesses, and community-driven attractions to enhance visitor experiences through research, technology, and data-driven decision-making. We help destinations understand visitor behaviour, map the complete destination journey, assess service quality, and measure visitor satisfaction to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. By leveraging analytics, digital tools, and destination intelligence, we support stakeholders in making informed decisions that improve operational efficiency, strengthen destination competitiveness, and create memorable visitor experiences. Our solutions enable destinations to become more sustainable, inclusive, and value-driven while maximizing the economic, social, and cultural benefits of the visitor economy for businesses, communities, and governments.

DTORR has been collaborating with the Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoological Park, Nagpur, to conduct annual visitor satisfaction surveys aimed at enhancing visitor experience, service quality, and destination brand value. Using a combination of manual research methods and technology-enabled data collection, the study captures visitor feedback, behavioural insights, and service performance across the destination. The findings provide valuable recommendations to the Zoo Authority for improving visitor engagement, operational efficiency, and overall destination management. This initiative reflects DTORR's commitment to using research and analytics to support evidence-based decision-making and strengthen the competitiveness of tourism attractions through continuous improvement.
DTORR supports the MICE industry by transforming events into measurable, data-driven, and sustainability-focused experiences. We help convention bureaus, event organizers, destinations, and corporate clients document the environmental, economic, and social impact of business events. Through technology-enabled solutions, research, and analytics, we develop event impact reports, sustainability assessments, ESG indicators, and visitor insights that support informed decision-making. Our services also include carbon footprint measurement, carbon offset strategies, and post-event reporting to help organizations align with global sustainability standards. By creating reliable data and actionable insights, we enable stakeholders to demonstrate event value, strengthen destination competitiveness, improve future event planning, and build a lasting legacy for participants, host communities, and the visitor economy.
DTORR served as the Co-organizer, Strategic Partner, and Impact Partner for the Wildlife Tourism Conclave & Awards 2024 at Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai, Maharashtra. As part of the engagement, DTORR designed and conducted an event impact assessment by collecting visitor data before and during the event to understand travel patterns, service consumption, visitor behaviour, and the event's social and environmental impact. The findings were published in a comprehensive impact report, providing valuable insights for future event planning and sustainability. The initiative was further recognized when the event received the Runner-up Award at the Exhibition Excellence Awards 2024 in the Most Sustainable Event category. This engagement reflects DTORR's commitment to helping event organizers measure impact, adopt sustainable practices, and create lasting value for destinations, communities, and the visitor economy.

DTORR has undertaken extensive research on India's Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) ecosystem by engaging with 22 categories of MICE service providers that support the meetings and convention industry. The study explores the economic and social impact of the MICE sector from the perspectives of event organizers and industry stakeholders, providing valuable insights into the industry's structure, challenges, opportunities, and value chain. While the comprehensive research findings are currently under review for publication, DTORR has already published several papers that deepen understanding of the MICE industry, particularly in India and Maharashtra. This work reflects DTORR's commitment to generating evidence-based insights that support sustainable event development, informed policymaking, and the long-term growth of the visitor economy.
DTORR is committed to bridging the gap between academia and industry by developing future-ready talent for the tourism, hospitality, and visitor economy. We collaborate with universities, educational institutions, industry partners, and government bodies to create meaningful learning pathways that enhance employability and workforce readiness. Through industry exposure programmes, seminars, workshops, certification courses, internships, and mentorship initiatives, we prepare students to become productive professionals from their first day in the workplace. We also assess regional demand and supply of tourism talent to support workforce planning and sustainable industry growth. By engaging educators, researchers, and industry experts, DTORR promotes the exchange of emerging trends, best practices, and practical knowledge, ensuring that tourism education remains relevant, innovative, and aligned with the evolving needs of the global tourism industry.
In collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra and Government Polytechnic, Nagpur, DTORR launched the Certificate Program in Agri & Rural Tourism Management in 2023 to support the implementation of Maharashtra's Agri Tourism Policy and strengthen rural tourism entrepreneurship. Delivered in a hybrid learning format, the programme has successfully trained more than 50 participants across three batches from different parts of India. Combining online learning with guided field visits and practical exposure, the programme empowers farmers, agripreneurs, rural entrepreneurs, and farmland owners to develop sustainable tourism enterprises. Through this initiative, DTORR is fostering skilled human capital, promoting responsible tourism practices, and creating long-term socio-economic opportunities for rural communities while contributing to the sustainable growth of India's agri and rural tourism sector.

DTORR is an Associated Industry Partner in the SIPAS (Advancing Sustainability and Technology in Tourism, Hospitality, and Services Studies through Strategic Industry Partnerships) project, an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education initiative funded by the European Union. The project brings together Indian and European universities to modernize tourism education through curriculum enhancement, sustainability, technology integration, and stronger industry–academia collaboration. DTORR has actively contributed to the SIPAS symposiums in Puducherry and Hyderabad, sharing industry perspectives and supporting knowledge exchange between academia and industry. The project has developed innovative learning modules, including the integration of sustainability, digital technologies, and AR/VR applications into tourism education, creating a significant milestone in strengthening higher education and preparing future-ready tourism professionals in India and Europe.

Since 2024, DTORR has been associated with GRN Connect, a leading B2B travel technology and GDS platform, as its programme delivery and training partner for the GRN Expert initiative. Through this collaboration, DTORR has successfully trained more than 300 students and early-career tourism professionals from universities and institutions across India through online and offline learning programmes. The initiative equips participants with practical knowledge of accommodation distribution systems, destination services, and travel technology while strengthening their industry readiness. Beyond technical skills, the programme has created greater awareness of GRN Connect's commitment to developing future tourism talent through industry-led learning. This collaboration reflects DTORR's mission to bridge academia and industry by delivering practical, career-oriented education that enhances employability and prepares participants for the evolving global tourism sector.
